{{ $t('History') }}
The 1303 sedan was built from 08-1972 until 07-1975 and the 1303 cabriolet until 01-1980. The Superbeetle has a MacPherson front suspension, a shorter turning circle (despite the wheelbase being 20 cm longer) and about double the usable luggage space (260 litres instead of 140 litres) under the front lid. The latter was due to the better positioning of the spare wheel. The spare wheel is laid flat in a Superbeetle, which is possible because there is no front axle in the way. The Superbeetle has very specific options which are specific to the year it was built. For the 1972 1303 version this includes: -Dashboard made entirely of plastic - Speed-adjustable fan (option) - Other rear mudguards - Shorter boot lid without VW logo - The push button of the boot unlocking mechanism is made of plastic - The petrol valve lock from the inside is deleted - Bulging windscreen (42% larger than 1302) - Larger rear lights (Elephant feet) - Seats mounted differently - Handbrake and gear lever moved to the rear - 1303 got a 1300 engine and 1303S a 1600 engine - Oilbath airfilter replaced by a paper airfilter - Fuse box moved to the middle of the dashboard
