Until 1997, the Z3 was just a nice convertible that was mainly suitable for leisurely rides. Then BMW decided to place the six-cylinder in-line of the M3 in it. And as expected, that resulted in an explosive cocktail. With only 3557 LHD units built, this is becoming a very rare car.

This Z3M was delivered new in Germany in 1997, it stayed with its first owner for several years. The car has been in Belgium since 2004. Since then, all odometer readings can be followed by the "carpass" which can be found in the gallery under the documents section. The last owner who registered it was the owner from 2016 to the end of 2021. Now the car is offered by Bjorn Syx Classics.

The body is in very good condition with no abnormal damage such as deep scratches, dents or rust. In my opinion a very clean copy. All door lines also fit nicely into the body.

The paintwork is in good condition, there are no dull spots or color differences. The previous owner told me that the front and rear bumpers were definitely repainted.

The interior is in very good condition, there are no known defects, the electric roof also works fine. Only some entry damage on the driver's seat but nothing abnormal. The combination consists of Nappa/Imolarot leather. The steering wheel is also still in original condition and shows light wear.

When BMW Motorsport considered the Z3, the performance department of the Bavarian manufacturer opted for the easiest solution by placing the engine from the M3 E36 in this convertible. However, that adjustment was not as easy as it seems at first glance, as a lot of mechanical components had to be moved because the block is quite large. The 3.2-litre six-cylinder in-line develops 321 hp at 7,400 rpm with a torque of 350 Nm. In 1997, this engine was known as one of the best ever built by BMW Motorsport (the efficiency of 100 hp per liter was exceptional at the time), making the M3 even a rival to the Porsche 911 thanks to its extraordinary performance. it is therefore not surprising that this power unit also transforms the Z3, with a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and a top speed of 249 km/h! Thanks to the torque, which is available for 80% from 2,000 rpm, the accelerations mentioned on the technical data sheet are also very impressive.

The last service was carried out on +- 109 800Km, the following activities were carried out: General inspection of the car, reading out any error codes, changing engine oil (10w60 castrol edge), oil filter, ultrasonic cleaning of the injectors, road test suspension, idle speed controller check (diagnosis OK).

Several invoices can be found in the documentation, as well as all refuelings from 2016 to the present. The car was always driven quietly to see the average consumption. As well as all original manuals come with the car. The original maintenance booklet has been lost and a new one was requested. Mileage can easily be guaranteed by the car pass present. The car comes with a Belgian registration certificate part 1 and part 2. Test certificate (red) all points for re-inspection have now been arranged + a certificate of conformity.
